The Beverley Anne Klein Memorial Scholarship

The Beverley Anne (B.A.) Klein Memorial Scholarship was established in 2021 to celebrate the life and legacy of B.A. Klein, a daughter, wife, mother, and friend to many, who dedicated her life to illuminating the lives of others.
​
B.A. was born on May 19, 1955 and was a graduate of Prince Edward Academy and University of Richmond. She worked in photography, marketing, media relations, and most recently as the manager of Patteson Farm. BA’s real accomplishments came in the form of how she lived her life. Her life was not free of struggle or heartache. From a young age she faced adversity, and even then, she did not let her wide smile or bright eyes be diminished. She carried on, perhaps becoming more loving and warm with each hurdle. She had a way of pouring love into everything she did. She was an avid gardener, and loved to have her bare feet in the dirt. She appreciated this earth and all its beauty, both on her farm, and afar. A stray animal was no longer stray after meeting Beverley Anne. She stopped in awe at the sight of a whimsical cloud, gnarled tree, simple blossoming flower, and every sunset. What set Beverley Anne apart from most, is that love was truly a verb for her. It was seen in the way she cooked, tended the farm animals, her tight hugs and warm greetings, an invitation to come, to stay longer, and how she knew when to laugh and when to ask you how you really are. B.A. loved her family intensely and unconditionally. They were her proudest accomplishment and reason for being. However, this did not prevent her from loving countless others as if they were her own. The Thanksgiving table always had extra seats, the guest beds were always made, and the fridge always full. She had away of bringing people together, and even among the largest of crowds she still saw each individual. She saw the good in everyone, and made them see it too. B.A. took the time to encourage the weary and lift those in darkness. B.A. passed away peacefully on May 26, 2020 at the age of 65 after a long and hard-fought battle with breast cancer, but even now, she continues to radiate hope and joy, and inspire courage in us all.
To help continue the legacy of B.A. Klein, Prescribe it Forward is proud to award one individual with a $1,000 scholarship to help support the cost of applying to medical school and pursue their dream of becoming a physician.
The Art Washburn Memorial Scholarship

The Art Washburn Memorial Scholarship was established in 2021 to celebrate the life and legacy of William Arthur “Art” Washburn III, a husband, father, friend, and mentor to many, who dedicated his life to the service of others.
Art was born on November 10th, 1966 and attended Wake Forest University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. He received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and further earned the designation of Certified Investment Analyst from the Investment Management Consultants Association.
Art placed family and community above all else serving foremost as a loving father and husband, but also in various leadership capacities throughout the community including having been a Board Member for the Virginia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a Board Member and Chair of the American Heart Association (Central VA), serving on the National Leadership Council for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, being a Board Member of the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club and a Board Member of Henrico Business Leaders. He was a volunteer soccer coach for the YMCA and the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club providing guidance and leadership to youth throughout the greater Richmond area. Art was on the Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association Basketball Operations Committee. Art was the Co-Principal and Founder of Alpha Omega Wealth Management providing financial and investment services to individuals and businesses throughout the U.S. Art passed away peacefully at the age of 50 on February 12th, 2017, yet his teachings remain prevalent in the lives of many, including his three sons, Alex, Zach, and Christopher.

The Em Vuong Memorial Scholarship

The Em Vuong Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 to celebrate the life and legacy of Em Vuong a wife, mother, and friend to many.
​
"Em was adored by all who knew her - always quick with a smile, lively, funny, and going out of her way to help anyone who needed it. Em’s kind and generous spirit touched so many people, from her extended family and children’s school communities to her friends across the country and her coworkers. She sadly passed away from cancer in November 2022, but her legacy lives on in her beloved husband CT, her devoted children Breanna and Bryce, and the many family and friends who love and miss her."

The Dr. Joe Vedula, MD Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Joe Vedula, MD Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Joe Vedula, MD a husband, father, caring physician, and friend to many. ​

"Joe was a man of numerous talents. He was an exceptional doctor, a loving husband, a nurturing father, and an incredible support system. He was a deep thinker and always sought out meaningful relationships with those around him. His hard work and dedication afforded him great success at renowned institutions. Most recently, he accepted an offer as Associate Professor at George Washington University. Aside from his professional accolades, he was loved by so many and truly made the time to make people feel heard, loved, and cared for. He was a protector, an advocate, and a pillar. He will be missed forever and always."

APPLICANTS DO NOT APPLY FOR A SINGLE SCHOLARSHIP. EACH APPLICANT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR EACH OF THE FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS, AND, IF SELECTED, WILL BE NOTIFIED OF WHICH AWARD THEY HAVE BEEN CHOSEN FOR.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED APRIL 30, 2023.
